Our Experts

Benson Kimeu Makau is the Managing director and Projects Surveyor and a director at Nile Surveys & Geosolutions Limited since its inception on 2013. He is a Full Member of Institute of Surveyors in Kenya and an approved assistant by the Land Surveyors board working under supervision of licenced Surveyor Dr Sammy Mulei Musyoka. He has Bsc. degree in surveying and photogrammetry from the University of Nairobi in 2006. He has over 17 years’ experience in surveying and GIS projects implementation.

Benson started survey practice in 2006 at private firm Geomaps Africa where he acquired great experience in project management, softwares integration and use of technology advancement in timely and efficient project execution. He proceeded to a five-year job at the British institute in eastern Africa advancing his GIS and Surveying skills in research projects and use of a variety of modern technologies.

He has carried out survey private practice since 2013 running Nile surveys and Geosolutions limited firm and has executed over 100 large projects and a project manager successively. He has been instrumental in timely completion of many of these projects by tying the design, planning, engineering and surveying needs of the projects seamlessly. He has great skills in GIS and CAD data systems managing with ability to manipulate, process, analyse and present or publish data in these systems

Dr. Sammy Mulei Musyoka is the Principal Licensed Surveyor at Nile Surveys & Geosolutions Limited (NSGS) since its inception in 2013. He has grown and guided the firm in its execution of projects or varying magnitude from small to large projects ensuring integrity to the profession, quality and timely delivery of services to our clients. He is an authority in the surveying profession in the country both in practice and academia with over 30 years’ experience in the surveying practice.

Dr. Musyoka is a senior lecturer in Geodesy at the Department of Geospatial and Space Technology at the University of Nairobi. He has taught at the university level since his Graduate qualifications in 1990. He obtained his Master’s Degree in Surveying in 1993 and a Ph.D. (geodesy) in 1999. He has risen through the ranks to the level of a senior lecturer in 2011. Dr Musyoka was appointed the Chairman of the Department from 2007 to 2017, a duty he diligently executed. As part of his duties at the University, Dr. Musyoka has practiced in the field of surveying while also carrying out his teaching and research responsibilities.

Dr. Musyoka has been an active member of the Institution of Surveyors of Kenya (ISK). He served as the Chairman of the Land Surveyors Chapter and later as a Council Member, being the Chairman of the Professional Practice & Ethics Committee. Dr. Musyoka was licensed in 2013 as member No. 211. He is currently serving his second term as a member of the Land Surveyors Board.

Dr. Musyoka has been involved in several large-scale survey projects in his capacity as a licensed surveyor. He has served as a Project manager, Quality assurance manager, and Technical manager and also in actual survey works execution. Some of these projects include “Panning and survey of economic zones, Planning and surveying of informal settlement schemes, feasibility studies for dam’s location, cadastral subdivision surveys involving large farms, large national irrigation projects, roadwork, power generation projects and resettlement action plan projects among others.
